[QUOTE=rickreeves1;1559556927]I just don't understand why people on here continue to debate these things. Hardtop vs. Convertible, Manual vs. Automatic, etc.. It's just a matter of personal preference. And then theres all the immature comments. "Girls drive automatics.." "Only a manual is a real sports car.." etc.. etc..

That's why I was going to beat a dead horse as well.
But being in Italy I thought that there would be other things to consider.....
We could ask...
Should I switch to Mobil 1?
or
Amsoil vs Mobil1?
Mosquiton, I love my car, but if there were one thing I'd change, it'd be that the car would be a manually shifted one. It just seems to add one more element of fun to driving a car, especially a sports car.

Personal preference.
Performance, for all intents and purposes, is equal.
Comes down to how involved do you want to be in the driving.

PS: I'm with Hot Rod: if it has an auto, it's not a real sports car. Those are personal opinions, shared by men who want to be in total control when they drive, and I see nothing wrong in that...
If I had a horse I'd want it to be an AUTOMATIC.
"My" preference is for the AUTOMATIC and I'm REALLY comfortable with my MANHOOD AND my AUTOMATIC transmission.
A manual tranny isn't going to alter MY testerone level one iota and guess what.... it won't YOURS either.
It must be that 'control freak' thing with 'some' folks. They feel 'naked' unless they have 'total control'.
Is it some worry over the length of their 'driveshaft' that makes them that way?
I'd make a bet that every one of them has those 'GIRLY MEN' legs from having those sissy-fied 'POWER BRAKES' on their cars.
My Titanium suit is on. I am impervious to fire, heat, smoke, bullets or bombs.
manuals are more fun(especially in the curves, but a built auto with a stall will destroy a stick everytime. The cars with the fastest drag times are always auto(cut way better 60s)...except for those elite few that I didn't mean to offend that can drive like hell. What are you gonna use the car for..twisties are do you like to play the stoplight derby.
Well from a performance perspective I've done the auto to 6-speed swap and guess what...my ET went up and my so did my mph. The car was actually not as quick but faster in the top end. I'm guessing I just need to learn to drive the car better with a stick.
The auto takes alot of driver error out of the equation. If you are going to drag race I'd get an auto, you can't beat the launch with a 3000 stall converter. If you are going to just drive it around or road race then you want to have a stick.

no, i dislike autos for having to sit and drive with my thumb up my ***
good I am starting to have a picture of the differences...
In other words the auto can be as quick as a stick in acceleration but the stick as a little more top speed... (and maybe fuel economy)
well since here traffic can be really really Heavy and slow sometimes and I don't plan to ever race/track the car (as I said just some wheelspin fun at the stoplight/corners sometimes) I really think I will get an automatic...The stick may be more fun but for "normal use" It may be overkill especially when coupled with a powerful V8 as thoose in the vettes, then as someone pointed out,to have back that little missing performance I can later build the auto trans for full manual shift and keep the best (almost) of both worlds (manual and auto)
after all as long it's a vette is gonna be beautiful anyway!
You guys are great for suggestions (helping people understand what is better to make better choices is really a great thing!)
Not to mention being overseas I doubt you have a lot of choices anyway ?? With most Vettes being made as an auto your odds favor that option. Either way you can't really go wrong

the stock L98/LT1 is not powerful, its got some power yes but its not all out there like you might be thinking.
get the stick. there's no overkill at all about it.
and trust me, if this is even a thought now, it will bug you immensely later. please don't end up so many that buy the auto and wish they had a manual. we hear it all the time.
with alot of those roads over there in your neck of the woods, an auto if anything will be "underkill".
Shifted the '63 4 million times and yeah it was fun. I used to have a hand pump on my well. That was fun. Mowed my lawn with a reel mower. That was fun. Black and white tv was thrilling. My Model A hardly had synchro-mesh. What a blast. The old mule my grandfather used to plow his field got the job done.
I have a machine that takes care of changing my gears unless I want to myself. Can we move on?
No matter which way you go there will be times that you wish you had the other option.
The first time you get stuck in traffic you will wish you had that damn Automatic. Then as soon as you leave the city and hit an open stretch of road you will be pissed that you can't shift it yourself. This is a win-win situation, it's a 'vette, no matter which way you go you will love it.
You just have to decide which thought you're going to have more often - I wish I had a manual or I wish I had an auto.
I, personally, am a manual "purist." But my driving needs are significantly different than yours. My C4 is a track only car, I don't care about traffic. When I go to work every day, I have an SUV and an automatic transmission for rush hour traffic.
Your English is just fine. Much better than my Italian. One more thing to think about----They don't put autos in the ZR1 or the Z06---Hummmmmmmm----I wonder why.
i drink coffee and smoke i need an auto, i say go auto, put a TCI manual valve body in it with reverse pattern shift (too cool) it will kick butt with a bigger stall torque converter. you'll have phun trying to keep it still at the red lights!!! weeeeeeeeeeee
