edcmat,
can you do me a huge favor and look around on the cage tubing for a nhra cert sticker?
Can you tell how or where the main hoop is welded to the car?
Wondering if it is a tube chassis car or if it is all stock.
I could swear I saw that car at Select Motor Cars in Fredericksburg @ 3 years ago. Could only get so close 'cause of the "wood" if you know what I mean
I'll look for a cert. Its not where they usually are, on the main hoop or door bar. It has swing outs and they arent in the car right now. I know swing outs are legal, just not sure to what speed/ET. Also, you may have seen it up in NOVA. From what I heard it was supposed to have been built in northern VA. Possibly Richmond area. We'll get it on a lift tomorrow and check out the chassis. Maybe post some more pix. She needs help......
Big Block. SB2s dont have equally spaced exhaust ports. They do have equally spaced intake ports, and the exhaust center ports are moved a little farther apart, but not equally spaced. And yeah, with enough squeeze, it oughta run in the nines. The cam sounds pretty mild. Dont know how big the motor is, or the converter, or the gear. Alots of "ifs" on this one.
Yeah thats what I first thought. But for some reason I didn't notice the cowl hood and thought that since in my mind the hood was flat it had to be small.
Big Blocks in C4's are unknown to me. I have never even seen or known that intake manifold existed or that you could fit one that cleanly into a C4.
Wow, this open a whole new realm of possibilities in my car...

Thats what the throttle body says. I imagine the whole setup came from them. Just took it for a test drive. Shes got issues. Looks alot better than it runs. Sometimes I think I'm an exterminator. I get rid of bugs!!

If it's the one I think it it, they make it for marine applications.
Single, twin or tripple big blocks in one on these!
If you run into trouble tuning it, there's a lot on info on the boating forums.
Maybe about 5-years ago there was a west coast drag racer who had a bitching big block (aftermarket) powered '41 ****** (pure race car). he was killed in a Portland Oregon bank robbery/shoot out with police (one of the robbers). His car was impounded, but somehow it never surfaced in "seized property for sale" by the gendarmes. Seriously. I suspect there is a happy copper somewhere in the Pacific North West

Appreciate the tip. Dont think we'll have much trouble. We do alot of the aftermarket systems. And yes, it seems to be the word that its a marine application motor. The whole set up. A fellow shop owner, who knows everybody thats anybody, stopped by today and gave me the scoop on the whole deal. Yes it was seized. We got the lowdown on who built it and how long ago and everything. I'll try to get some sound clips up later. Its got a dead hole, so not much to show off there!! As far as how the main hoop is attached, its welded to the top of the bulkhead behind the seats. Looks great, but dont think it would certify. I had the local NHRA guy out a couple times to the shop, specifically to look at vettes, C4s and C5s. He said the main hoop needs to extend to the bottom, lower than your butt. His term was "encapsulate". Now, that being said, I dont know if some Tech inspectors would certify this or not. I have seen some stuff certified that I know wouldnt fly at the big tracks in this area. Like Chevelles with the cage mounted to the floor like a unibody car. With a sticker on the door bar. Certified to 8.5. Makes ya wonder......

They only impound personal property that is directly involved in a crime.
Unless the "pure race" ****** was being used as the getaway car this sounds like urban legend.
But it's a good one....
No, it was not used by a getaway car. It would have been illegal because no license or mufflers! But the rest of the story is true (except maybe the impounding. Maybe that is why it never surfaced again)

Hate to tell you this Larry but ever heard "fruit of the crime" example, bank robber buy new vette with stolen bank money, the vette can be impounded, seized and auctioned off.
