wait a minute......... you have the goose with the golden egg here.
you have a junk yard?
excuse me ......wrecking yard?
the 88-89-90 camaro-firebird had the cast iron heads. but the center 2 bolts are at different angles. I'd use the truck swirl ports as an experiment in low speed torque. they run out of air at 4000 RPM. get creative, and put the shim head gaskets on it
But....
just go get one of those engines, put your cam in it, add new lifters and bolt your intake on it, change the flywheel/flexplate and keep going.
oh and you will have to change the pan also.
and no not all engines are drilled for the pump shaft and the bolt holes aren't drilled. Just the pad is still cast into the block.
why are you wasting your time here? it should have been done already

ok the van engine is out .I had a look at it today and its a 305
Now I was out back in the junk yard today.I came across two firebirds
1 1971 1/2 camaro.Four 1979 chevy pickups with 350 engines.amd a monte carlo.Now what car do think will have the best engine.
Assuming they are all pre-1986, they will all bolt in and accommodate your Crossfire intake, with no head or flexplate change. With no more details, it is impossible to advise a choice. I'm guessing condition and mileage would be the deciding factors. What has happened to the $500.00 rebuild mentioned in the Parts For Sale/Wanted Section?
VIN code "R" engines were introduced in 1996. The fuel pump boss existence is a non-issue for this thread. Her 1984 has it, but she isn't using it. Whether a replacement engine has the boss or not is not relevant in this case.
As for the engine rebuild .My engine is in the shop now.Im going to stroke it out.Im not gong to use the old heads so im looking around to see waht is going to work best.I also want to put a cam in so thats on my list to look into.
