Does anyone know the proper way to rewire the primary fan on a 1991 Corvette (with dual fans) to operate via a manual switch (or reostat) instead of having the ECM control it?
I believe the secondary fan operates off of a temperature switch, so it is fine.

I rewired both of my fans on my 96 to manual control. The relays get power when the key is on, and the ECM gives them ground when it wants them to come on. Look at the relay, and there is a diagram of the pins. Connect a switch to ground to the proper pin on the relay, and the fans will be on whenver the key is on and the switch is on.

He's not doing that.
He's running a switch to the ground signal input on the relay. Run the other side of the switch to ground somewhere. I did this on both of my fans with a double throw switch.

Maybe I was misunderstood. I understand what's going on. 1 wire goes from the relay (green wire) to the temp switch, & then to ground. In other words, a switch is being connected between ground & the relay which causes the switch to control the fan instead of the ECM. Excellent. Thanks for the help!
