Default super ram

anybody know of the difference between the super ram model #74196 and the 74196F. Found a new 74196F for sale and need to know if it would be ok for 89 w/ accel intake.

I'm guessing, maybe the difference is one has a cold start valve port in the runner and one doesn't. My SR has no provision for the cold start valve, but I don't know my part number off hand.

The plenum on the 74196F is approximately 5/8 inch shorter in height. It was designed to fit under the cowl of the 4th gen F-bodies. It will work fine on your 89 with the Accel intake.

The 74196F Plenum & Runners were paired with the 74197L manifold
for use in LT1-powered 4th gen f-bodies.

I defer to 63redcoupe on the matter of fitment between the 74196F
and the 74197 manifold.

I have a 74196 Plenum and runners on my 88 with a ported stock intake manifold. No issues. No cold start valve on that model. I did a delete. I'm not sure about the F model. I copied this from the Lingenfelter website

L98 TPI engine from 1600 RPM to redline. Engineered to boost air velocity and improve the charging effect of the cylinders this combination was unbeatable.

This intake was later redesigned for the LT1 Corvette, Camaro, Firebird and Impala engine packages. This design was a milestone for the LT1 and took advantage of the new improved cylinder head design to make more usable torque than the LT1 or TPI's Mini Ram intake. This intake manifold will increase torque and will make your car faster than a comparable built LT1 or Mini ram equipped vehicle hands down.

Requires 74196 plenum and runners for Corvette applications or 74196F for the Camaro or Firebird LT1 applications. Requires L98 style fuel rails assemblies and required hookups for fuel system.
