HI! IS IT AN EASY AFTERNOON DIY JOB WITH A LITTLE OR WILL I NEED SOME HELP TO REPLACE THE 2 DOORS MAIN WHEATERSTRIPS ON A 87 CONVERTIBLE... THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!
I did the door weatherstrips on my 86 no problem, just make sure you buy the strips with the clips already attached then you don't have to worry about breaking clips when you remove the old strips, all you need is a tube of weather strip adhesive, a rubber hammer and phillips screw driver. I didn't have to take the door panels off on my 86. Good luck.
All my new strips came in, I just wish some type of directions had come with them.
I just did mine, pretty simple. I bought a cheap set, "Metro Super Soft" and their instructions were
Apply black weatherstrip adheasive to end pads and between each pin around perimeter.
Seeing that the cheap stuff has no integral support (no plastic support at screw holes) I made sure I glued as much of the pads as I could. I started with the big pad (front) and worked my way back to the small pad. I can't see how anyone could change these with the door panels on. The top trim covers the inboard screw of each pad.
