surging idle

surging idle
i have a 94 lt1 after running for a while and the engine gets hot it will surge up and down between 500-1500 rpms and will accelerate very rough. it also used a tank of gas in only 220 miles all highway any ideas?

Could be a bad 02 sensor, too. Check the codes. A bad oxygen sensor can make your mileage real shetty real fast.

with one on the 02 sensor and checking the codes, if you don't find anything other than code 12 I'd proceed on to a fuel pressure test.

i have exactly this problem on my 94 too. so far, i've replaced the egr and iac with no change. the ses light has never come on, but i'll try to check codes this weekend on it. will there be a code and ses for a bad tps or o2 sensor?
i also have a 96 that i can swap parts off of to test. is the tps the same part on both model years?
