Funny, how i read like atleast 5 comments on where guys are almost laughing at what i made, not once did i say "Come check out this great plate" i simply showed a pic of my FIRST time doing something with fiberglass. and u guys have the sence to bash it and try and make funn. well u guys are really cool...thought this place was for good sense members?? maybe u vette owners are the ones who dont even wave either....well anyways, go pay 500 for the other one then wont hurt my feelings..thanks to the guys who said something nice, and gave me advice....
Buy a clear plastic front license plate cover. They sell them that retain the body lines of the C4. You can cut a slot in it or a bowtie or whatever else you like. Paint it body color from the inside since it's clear so it won't chip. You would want to clean it and scuff it with
400 grit nothing rougher since you have to fill the scratches with paint.
For making a proper mold of the original part use a mold release agent. Very cheap and effective. Im considering doing that with my entire front bumper to make my own bumpers/flares.
Wax paper will help the outside come out super smooth..you can even squeegee over the paper to push out excess resin. When dry, pull the paper off..it will be smooth as chit!
P.S. you have to sit thru a little political statement at the beginning of the video's? But fiberglass part is worth the weirdness...
Thanks for posting those links! Those were some of the most informative stuff I have watched pertaining to cars in a long time. The things that guy did and how it seemed second nature was simply amazing.
That looks like do do,good idea tho, take it off , fill and sand with bondo,it sands easier than fiberglass.Make it look better before putting it on your car

Do this and cut out the whole thing except for an inch around the perimeter, then put in some nice stainless mesh. There is a similar product sold for C5's.
Neat idea! I don't have mesh on mine and it is OK. There is a metal cross bar in front of the filter area on my year, I drilled and ground a slot in it.
well...you gotta start somewhere? 3 degrees is HUGE for a Corvette, you might could make it outta that sheet metal piece's they sell at home depot, bend it, shape it, glass it, they even have a cool looking aluminum grill you can cut and put in, its usually in the ac duct area.
WOW, never thought about cutting a whole underneath the SLP claw and putting in a filter...thats smart..but anywase, today i put the stock plate back and on my car did not cool off. i was driving around 215-234 temps untill i got home, not too many stop lights either..im going back to MY custom plate, BUT im cutting a whole in the original plate, i hate the look of the one i made..

The SLP claw is a waste of money, hope you don't have it.
If you want your cold-air system to do more for the car than fill the engine compartment with dirt, then it needs to be a sealed system. And the frontal area of the inlet needs to be as large as possible. This will allow it to build pressure and feed 100% of the cold air to the engine, not allowing the engine to suck in hot air, or the cold air to blow everywhere else.
so if i have a tube directly from the license plate threw right the the middle intake tube on the claw, ur saying that would be the best? thats what i wanna do, but i dont know if i can get anything in the to cut a ehole that big, plus there wont be a filter on the tube, scared something might get in the tube

No. I'm saying look at the early SLP cold air kit or the A/O Engineering kit from Zip. They put the inlet directly in the flow stream, and the filter is in a sealed box. This is the type of design you want.
Not sucking air off the radiator, not sucking air from the engine compartment, and not forcing more air under the hood than necessary to cool the radiator.
