Default Steering Wheel replacement

I'm planning on swapping my beat up factory steering wheel with a grant gt wheel I had on my camaro, is there any special adaptor or anything I'll need?

Yes, you will need adapter #6400 from Grant.

I am curious to know whether or not it is possible to use this same adapter on an airbag-equipped C4. Does anyone know if the C4 steering wheels are interchangable?

Yes you will need an adapter. Just get the grant adapter from any shop that sells grant wheels. Pepboyz even has them. You will also need a steering wheel puller to make life easier although I assume since you put one in your camaro you already knew that.

I used Momo but they are the same basic principle.

So I will need a different adaptor than the one I used for the camaro? Is is specific for a corvette? Can you retain the telescopic function?

If you use a Momo wheel do you still use the grant adaptor?

Not sure...ONLY if the wheel can bolt onto it.If the steering wheel has the same holes to bolt to the adaptor, and it requires an adaptor, then sure you can use it.Just find out from the suppliers if it uses the same bolt patterns or same adaptors.

The grant adapter allows tele functions. I don't know about mixing momo and the grant adapter....I went with grant all the way, and all fix and worked fine:

There are adapters available to go from Momo to Grant hub or Nardi to Grant hub. There is a Momo to Grant currently listed on Ebay at $32.

I am going to be doing this very shortly as well. The stock steering wheel is all chewed up and nasty.

Good info here on that adapter, and the above car looks super.

Btw,years back when I got my adaptor for my former 86,I took it to a body shop. The wrinkle satin like finish was not to my liking, and you can see it in the above photo somewhat how its an off color.

I dropped my adaptor off at the body shop and 10 bucks later, received it painted gloss black.Looked much better on the steering coulmn when sprayed gloss black.I could have used spray cans,But knew a painted finish from the shop, would be way superior to a spray bomb.

MOMO makes an adapter for the telescopic wheel. Try these guys:
http://www.ltbmotorsports.com/steeringwheel.html

You can replace an airbag wheel with a new MOMO, Sparco, or Grant.
You just won't have an airbag any more.

I have complete instructions on replacing an airbag wheel with a MOMO adapter and steering wheel, including the steps that must be taken to fool the electronics into thinking the airbag is still there. (Otherwise, you'll have the "AIRBAG" light on all the time.)
PM me if you want them.

Would you mind posting up that information? I would love to do that on my car. This would work for an LT1 car, right?

Here's a Momo wheel with a Momo adapter on my 88 vert. It has a Grant horn button. It's a simple install. Took about an hour. Make sure you have all the right tools. You need a wheel puller, a spring compressor and special pliers for pulling the clip. The adapter on Vinnies Vette looks like mine so I think Grant and Momo use the same manufacturer. You can keep the telescopic and cruise control.

Just a heads up in Virginia, some inspection places WILL NOT pass a car with a different steering wheel unless it is exactly the same size. Not all places are this strict but some are and it is posted on the things to be checked. We found out about this when my sons car was rejected for this reason.

Serious? WOW...years ago I lived in a state with safety/emissions every year and never heard of such a thing..In fact when I got my auto classes done and Inspection license, some auto certifications,I used to inspect cars(In NY state) and do not recall ever hearing about the steering wheel, unless maybe an airbag wheel was removed?

I cant recall, its been a long time, but never heard of it..that being said,it DOES NOT SUPRISE ME ANYMORE at the lengths the rules go to fail a car for the stupidest chit imaginable.

That Grant adapter pictured above looks a lot like what I have.
I have tele functions too.

I bet that's what I have!
