I'm a computer programmer so natuarally the prospect of this fills me w/ geek lust :) I've heard of programs such as LT1-Edit and such but I haven't been able to dig up much info.
All i'm really interested in doing is changing my shift points, at least for right now.
I already have a Hypertech Stage II chip installed. Is there anyway that I can get into the computer to program that?
If not what do I need??????
If I remember correctly, LT-1 Edit will work on 1994 -1995 Vettes (Also the newer C5 vettes with LT1Edit for ODBII).
If you have a '94, '95 Vette than the software is easily usable and will do whatever the Hypertech does plus more. It has an easy to understand interface but you will need to do some research about the workings of the LT1 motor before jumping into too much of the details. Most important thing is to take your time and make slow changes, remember your motor will depend on these changes and their are very few safety measures.
try this forum, its the LT1_Editor forum and is a wealth of inofrmation always going around, they will tell you where to go for programming 101, and thent he next steps to take and then with your background, im sure you can take off and start adding to their collective base of information, very fascinating, im trying to learn it myself right now, take some time to understand the relationships between the tables, well, you'll see, best of luck, it is rewarding!
These programs sound like a lot of work - First get a cable and make sure your cars running right, then order our software.... It sounds like it would take a couple of weeks just to get everything ordered. Isn't there a program for 94 & 95 that is all inclusive???
Alot of work is tearing down a Holley on a hot motor to change Jets, squirters, and pump cams, along with opening the distributor to change the springs and weights to adjust the timing curve.
The choice you have for 94-95's is LT1-Edit or TunerCAT software to make changes to your ECM. Order a cable to connect your laptop to the PCM to download your new Flash file. All of these products can be ordered on the web. The statement of make sure your car is running right is to remind you that you DO NOT tune a car that is not at 100%. If you O2's are shot, how are you gonna determine the optimum tune for your car?
For the cars with EPROM's you can choose TunerCat or Winbin (I think thats the name) software to make changes to your PCM. You will need a EPROM burner and a few chips to play with.
Go to http://www.tunercat.com. Look under supported ECMs. Your car is 92-93 Y car w/LT1. Click on the big I. A list of the parameters that you can change with the program will come up.
