Default YSI project complete!

Just picked the car up from the shop with the new Vortech YSI blower. I can tell this blower is putting a lot more air through the motor compared to the old S and T trim.

I took it around the block a few times on the previous S trim tune and kept my eyes on the A pillar mounted Wideband. At idle and under vaccum the AFR is ok, the car starts to lean out right away as soon as boost builds. I pulled up the VE tables on the DFI and added more fuel across the boost range and turned the base advance down across the rpm just a tad so I can drive it home.

On the way home, I got on it just a little but was very careful and made sure my AFR never got over 13.0:1 under heavy boost. I noticed the YSI builds boost a lot faster than the S or T. I hit close 10psi of boost at around 4500rpm??!! I was only getting around 12psi max on the S and T with the exact same pulley setup. I am currently running a two bar map and I am afraid I might have to jump up to a 3 bar map with my current pulley setup.

I have a dyno tuning session scheduled for next week. The car will be sitting until then. I'll keep people posted on the results.

Here are a few pics that I took after I got home.

Welcome to my world.
Over 10 psi by 4000 RPM, almost 20 psi by 5000 RPM. I went to the three BAR and am worried that by redline I will exceed 29.4 (4 BAR territory and I will have to have the computer upgraded to accomodate). Recorded values just under 27 at 6100.

The really cool thing is that the increased boost at higher RPM doesn't load the driveline too much heavier during normal street driving (i.e. D44 lives a bit longer). The bad news is that if you get to the high boost levels, you will get introduced to "spark snuff", which I never even thought of when I made the changes (though I have made changes this week that may have improved the situation). Enjoy the new found top end charge.

Paul, congrats. I'm stuck with a stripped fitting on my brake lines that is diverting my attention. I'm really curious to see what your dyno numbers and boost curve will be. 10psi at 4500 is awesome. I barely saw that at redline with my t trim. I'm really excited now!

That's what I was thinking about the drivetrain. However, I am not going to be makinig anything close to what you are with my pulley setup so hopefully spark snuff won't be an issue.

What injectors are you using? Also, if you could let me know once you dyno the car what your injector duty cycle is at max boost. I still have to buy some injectors and make sure my fuel pump setup is up to the task. I'm curious if 60's will be enough because the guys on the c6 forum with this blower are going with 83's and 96's.

From what I've been told, the motron 60s should be fine. But I'll let you know either way.

My dyno tuning session has been pushed back until next week.
the shop owner is running his supra at the hot import nights this weekend and needs to tune his own car.

Man, I just want to drive it!

right now we have scheduled it for tuesday of next week.

I'll keep people posted.

As already stated in so many ways, the obvious attention to detail and level of professionalism in your pics speaks for itself. But I've gotta say, threads like this are really starting to get under my skin. You see, I just happen to have this perfectly good, nicely sized for the application turbo that's just sitting around. And I've always liked cars with a big-end charge. And I've always wanted to play with forced induction, and on and on and on and on..... And of course I've have to build yet another short block, stepping the compression down a bit. Dammit! Do you know how much you could be costing me? This place is a bad influence!
And as so many others, I'll be looking forward to more details and results.

damn, Paul, that's one bad assed ride.

My plan is to do a mild 383, then add a SC down the road...
