Default Oil Catch Can

I actially made one of these many years ago for another car of mine. Am considering installing one in the vette. Maybe a GReddy can.
How many of you are running one of these???

Did you buy the Greddy? Where did you mount it? Thanks, Jack

I use a pro stock crank case evac system.

I have a belt driven pump suck air and fumes out and go to a vented oil seperator/catch can. This has a K&N breather on top and a drain plug on the bottom so I can empty it.

I don't recirculate the fumes just vent them.
Therefore it is mounted under the car in the back as I don't want to breath the fumes.

When racing I would have 100+ lbs of oil pressure at 6000+ rpm.
Now it stays at an even 64 lbs accelerating and going through the traps. Even with a power adder. Works great.

I one also. I am trying to figure out where to put it and what kinds of hose I want to use. I know its no big deal but I want to make it look nice.

Well, the Greddy is a nice piece. The accompaning hoses I won't use. They're clear and reinforced but will look crappy soon as the crud starts flowing.

I'm thinking about adding another fitting to the Greddy can and routing both valve covers to the can and then routing it the bottom of the car. If I can keep the can reasonable cool then the oil should condense there, in the can.

I bought one from DAVE68 as he actually makes one useing coalescing filter.

And his write up. And I paid for the right type as it is for oil separation within the fumes due to my excessive blow by. Its not a cure for me, but a bandaid till I get my rings changed to standard instead of low tension.

I know the C5's have a problem pulling oil into the intake and benefit from a catch can but would a LTx in good condition get any benefit? My car has not used a drop of oil in the 5,000 miles I've had it so I'm wondering if a catch can is something I should be considering. Car is a daily driver, never raced.

Very few people have even discussed LTx engines getting one. But when modified via pistons, cams, different heads and whatever else is aftermarket they can benifit from one. If you were to take your manifold off, and if you saw oil in there, then yes you would benifit from one.

Yes, as my engine is brand new, with gapless rings, I am still going to use one. After time oil will coat the intake and I have too much $$ in this motor not to use a catch can. I am installing a SC and there will be some blowby. Want those injector nozzle's spray pattern oil free

Check this out http://www.conceptualpolymer.com/PCV...oval%20101.pdf , you may want to hold off on the breather hose and just applying the pvc hose to the can.

Good article Don't know yet what I'll do but I do want to incorporate some steel mesh inside the can and keep it as cool as possible.

BTW, are you using the braided lines like the ones you discussed in another thread?

Not for this. No need for high pressure lines. If anything a more of a vaccum typre hose.
