Default 85 Turn Signal Flasher Location

Can one of you guys tell me exactly where the turn signal flasher unit is located on an 85? Mine just went out, and I don't want to be laying upside down looking under the wrong side of the dash to yank it out... Thanks!

When I thought mine went out on the 85, I found that I actually had a slightly loose connection in the front light bulb sockets.

I believe you can find it right in the middle of the dash behind the information panel. I can't remember 100%, but I thought I remember seeing it right there.

That is correct.

Found it - Thanks!
But it's not my problem. Just realized I don't have brake lights, either, so I better start checking fuses and go from there...

Crap. All the fuses are good, and I have power. That means I have a bad brake light switch or a bad turn switch in the column...

The information you guys gave me above is not correct. The turn signal flasher is not located behind the information panel - that's the hazard flasher. Service manual states that the turn signal flasher is to the right of the information center, but does not show a location. Does anyone know where it is?

Hey Lars, you have been around forever!

It's attached to a C-clip that holds it in place

It's completely fugging buried behind the dash. If you remove the dash pad and pray to Buddha for 7 nights you'll see it down in there. Towards the passenger side. I think it was yellow, and that I removed a hvac duct to reach it from the top.

Coaster's description is pretty much on the money...I was tired of the almost silent flasher in my 85 (huh?? did somebody say something? :-)) so I went out and bought a replacement. I went searching for the flasher and when I realized I'd need 2 rubber elbows to get to it - I returned the flasher!! Maybe I'll get sick of the quiet flasher and reach in there again. By the way, is a quiet flasher a characteristic on this car or is it that the flasher is tucked so far away that it is just impossible to hear?

Tell me how it goes Lars...

I used some crap Pep Boys flasher and it's loud and obnoxious. I hate it. Sounds like the grim reaper tapping his fingernails on my windshield.

Trade ya?

ha ha!! If you were across town, I'd trade you in a minute! But you'd have to R & R mine as part of the swap. At least I know that there is such a thing as a flasher that you can hear...

I found the turn signal flasher, swapped it out, and fixed the problem. The flasher is right up under the passenger side hush panel towards the tranny tunnel. Very easy to get to - it's not burried in there at all. Drop the hush panel, and it's located on a clip right there in plain sight (now, why doesn't the freakin' Service Manual state that it's located there...?). Thanks, LD!

That's encouraging...I guess I will have to go in the easy way and find the sucker! Thanks for letting me know about this.

On my wifes '86, it was tucked up a little farther than I could reach, I couldn't pop the clip off with out drawing blood, soooo... I pulled the dash pad off, pulled the connector, plugged in the the new flasher, zip tied it to a more accesable spot and replaced the dash pad.

Default Flasher location

I know this is a really old thread but I thought I would take off the panel (bread box) in front of the passenger seat in my 85. I looked in there and was right in front of me. Pulled out and replaced. (Doesn't look like stock)
