Default AC diverter door help

Anyone know how to get to the AC/Heater diverter door? I am 99% sure that the clip holding it in place is broken. When I switch on the AC or take a hard right turn, I can hear it flop over and the heat kicks in. Tried working from the bottom, through the hush panels and i can't see anything. Do you have to go through the top of the dash, the stereo area or the blower motor area?

Thanks for the help and pictures would be great.

My car is right hand drive, so i may be able to indicate something to you with that, cause mine has the heater box and blend door upside down on the left side of the car, so the control for it should be on the top of yours.

Your going to have to remove the lower passenger panel and lay on your back to see it. On the pastic housing, you will see a motor/arm mounted to it. The rod from door goes through a slot in housing and is clipped into motor arm. Here is a pic of the motor. On the left, you can see the arm and door rod(barely). There is a clip at each end of door rod, I hope your problem is the one at motor arm.

What if the clip on the other end is broken? Is it easier to get to it through the back of the radio and the AC control or do you have to get to it through the top of the dash??

If it is the clip on the inside, your best bet is to remove the cover. About 10 minutes less than re and re-ing the core.

The underside of my passenger dash doesn't look anything like the picture posted. I don't see anything resembling the rod or motor.

Would it make a difference between years or if there is electronic climate control in mine?

Where exactly is the door I am looking for? Is it in the area behind the stereo and AC control or is it by the blower motor and heater core? When I hear it flop around, it sounds like it is behind the radio.

I don't believe there is any difference between our years in respect to this pic.
The door would be above the passengers left calf.
Did you remove the lower passenger panel, lie on your back and look up ??
The ECM is blocking most of the view. Remove the two 10mm screws, pull down the ECM, then you will see what I'm talking about. You can unplug the ECM wiring connectors and totally remove the ECM if it really gets in your way.
