ANYTIME YOU INSTALL A NEW MASTER CYLINDER OR BRAKE BOOSTER, THE BOOSTER PUSHROD ADJUSTMENT SHOULD BE CHECKED.
Paying $100 doesn't make that go away. Stick a pencil into the m/c and mark the side of it how deep it goes in. Then compare with the booster length. The booster pushrod has an adjustable nut on the end of it. Simply get some vise grips and a rag to hold the shaft while you loosen or tighten the end to adjust length.
Basically if you push the brake pedal by hand (with car off) you should feel a small amount of play before the booster pushrod hits the m/c piston.
the booster rod is a rod that has an adjustable end. It is part of the booster smack-dab in the center. it won't fall out, or move, so don't worry about losing anything or putting it back together . it just gets hidden with the master bolted to it's front.
If you still have power brakes, the booster is probably fine. just the adjustment needed to be changed when you changed the master last year. Do as central coaster suggested, but pick a pencil without an eraser on the end so it won't compress when you stick it in the hole
(and i'm not being dirty)
Well I figured I would let all who helped me know how I made out. I took off the master and the clearance was fine, bought a rebuilt for 23 bucks and it cured the problem. Wish I had done this before I replaced the calipers. Thanks for all the input
