Default big block in a c4

ok guys was bumming around the garage the other day and noticed my 454 i have sitting waiting for the rebuild i was planing for my 79 chevy 3/4 ton. i have quite a bit of stuff saved up for the build except the actual rebuild kit, i have the original rods but was planing some new forged ones, and the heads. i had an idea well hell it be sweet to have that in the ol 84. i know ill havta have a cowl hood or at least modifications for hood clearance. but what else would i need to do? how about headers i heard block huggers? i read in previous posts id have to cut a notch in the crossmember and possably move the steering rack and such. is that true? if thats the case it prob not worth it to put it in. im not talking a car for drag racing or anything the plan is for a powerfull street/show car/head turner. and having the big block in would certainly turn some heads. i am also planning on putting a zf-6 in. what flywheel could i use for that? this isnt something im 100% going through with just want to get some info on it. considering i got quite a bit for the rebild already i figure i might be able to go this way and have this done next summer.

Default Big Block in a C4

Out of all the C4's I have seen with a big block this is my favorite. He is also a member of our forum (orangeC6 is his forum name).

Dig around in his site and you will be impressed when you read that the car drag races AND road races. The car is bad azz and the owner is super nice.

I would go T56 as the make a kit to bolt it to a big block. Plus if you break it, it is probably cheaper to repair or replace. I think you might have to use some ZR1 parts to clear the block too. ZR1's are some big wide motors.

I'm having a moment of brain fade. 'Spain the difference in bolting any given trans to a big block vs a small block. Why would you need a kit specificially for a big block?

RACE ON!!!

Friend who is putting a big block with a t56 in his 67 camaro showed me an add in Hot Rod. I think it was a flywheel, clutch, bellhousing, and hydraulics. You provide the t56.

If you put a big block in a C4, how the hell would you be able to change the spark plugs without pulling the motor? My guess is that there will have to be a lot of high dollar custom fab work as well as a lot of crap to cut out. I was considering this in my 89 but I've come to the conclusion that all the effort spent "custom" fitting a big block in a narrower C4 engine bay is just not worth it.

I think you mean ZR1 and yes they're very sweet. With multiple cams and all that I bet its a pain to work on though.

your probably right about the spark plugs i doubt you will havta remove the engine to replace them but hopefully someone who has done this will chime in. im going to do some searches tommorow and see what i can pull up. i know alot of you guys prefer us doing our own searches but archive search doesnt wanna work for me for some reason and general searches i sometimes cant find what i need its kinda hit and miss as how often the subject comes up
