coil overs
I have seen them on a customers car and they looked really cheap.
I can't say enough about the QA1 coilovers. I feel sorry for any fool that may have been turned off by the ride quality of a C4 and ended up selling it for a big butt C5. Mine handles AND rides like a dream.
When I called Merle at EM , he said the shocks will be "valved" to the driving style that you tell them, i.e street, autox etc. They are non adjustable in terms of shock travel dampening.
I did a search on EM CO's and there are several threads in this and the Autocross section
I don't think the people that EM's CO's have them dislike them at all.
If you want Adjustable Coil overs go to Mo's site for an example of what he uses. www.ndneyes.com The QA1's can have 12-way adjustability and can have 24 way adjustments, if you want to spend the extra $$$
BTW the shocks on Mo's site do not work with the older 85,86, 87 ?? narrow shock tower

Mo knows coilovers!
If you're going to bother, do the QA1s.

Another very interesting thing I noticed after I went to the 250lb spring is how well the car was in the rain with the G-Force tires and now the BFG Drag Radials. It use to really feel unstable at highway speeds in the rain when I had the 350lb springs in the back and Drag Radials but not no more.
I would love to try the double adjustables some time but it's pretty dam good just the way it is so if it ain't broke..........
If ride quality is your number one goal from your suspension I would go with the 12' QA1 ultra ride shocks and 200lb 12' springs in the rear. I use those on the back of mine (PromaStar in the front) and it really is pretty amazing how well they work.
I also use the C5 monospring rear bolt bushings. I originally used the bushings that came with the QA1s but they would be shot after a month since they were not intended to handle the weight of the car.
My shock settings are:
Daily driven: 3 front 3 rear
When on a date: 3 front 2 rear
When I'm in "that mood" 6 front 5 rear
Those numbers were to set the car at ~27 inches in the front and 27.75 in the rear with a full tank of gas. Which i explain on my website.
You drop 2 inches with only about 2-3 inches of travel you will need close to 700 - 800 pound springs... would not be a fun ride... unless you modify for a longer shock.
