Ok I have searched till my eyes are sore!!!About a year (maybe two)ago someone grooved their stock shocks and found a coilover sleeve kit and springs for the front of the car.I remember the post even specified the colours of the parts were blue and yellow with the part numbers.
Vaguely familiar...try a search (advanced search, select C4 parent directory so it searches tech and general) with the keyword "Afco".
They are the brand that sells blue and yellow coil over pieces. I remember the poster spent about a quarter of the going rate for EM / Doug Rippie / QA1 versions.

Man I was starting to go blind looking for that.
Awesome! That is cheap. I may have to do this for my car, as I would really like to be able to set the ride height and corner weight the car.

Where are you going to put the groove on the shock at? The very bottom, or up a ways? I was unsure of where badman put his at, as he doesn't really say.
Me too, and is it just one groove, or is the shock spiral grooved so that the coilover hardware screws on to the shock?
We need an update from baddmann to see if he did the rears also.
I'm pretty sure it is just one groove. The coil over kit comes with a snap ring. The snap ring goes into the groove, and this supports the sleeve. The inerior of the sleeve is not threaded.

So the snap ring just holds the sleeve to the shock body? Anyone have pictures of this? I believe most of the kits I've seen come with the threaded sleeves. What are the sizes/specs for this kit, what size sleeve?
