Is the pulley press on or bolt? That picture above looks like it could be either. My '87 GM service manual states 2.1 hours to remove/replace the entire pump assembly and 0.3 hours to replace a serpentine belt.

The pulley is pressed on. The puller/installer is cheap: Preformance Tool P/N 87022 - $24. I found mine in stock at Pep Boys.
Changing to the later model ( single sided belt ) does NOT require that you change the alternator. I just did this on my 92.
You need:
10230259 - Belt
10227507 - Tensioner
10227069 - P/S Pulley
10105355 - Idler Pulley
I got the above from Direct for $149 including shipping. But, the shipping was slow.
You don't need to remove the pump from the car.
Side Note: Removing the P/S pulley makes it really easy to change plug wires.

The '92 is definitely grooved. So are early 93 cars. I just changed my ignition wires last week and had to take off the tensioner and idler arm pulley to service.

Here are some pictures I took when i had to remove the PS Pump.
You will be able to see the Idler, Pulley, and tools required for Pulley removal/install.
Hope this is helpfull. It is from a 94 Vette LT1.

convert the damned thing.
All it needs is a new style pulley and that's that.
the double sided belts are getting easier to find (NAPA actually stocks them), but they are still not common.
I converted mine over to single sided years ago, with no issues. I don't think I still have the pulley, tho... I can check.

Make the change over!!! I also had a broken (plastic) p/s pulley on my 92...
I found the kit on E-Bay for $151 shipped... All pulleys and belt... Took about 2 hours from raising the hood to washing the hands... Perfect fit and all parts were GM...
