Hi all anyone used this set up before and what are the plus and minus of using them. I have a 96 CE and was wondering if it's worth it to get one ?
Like how much more HP does it put out etc etc?
Thanks
Clay
I used one on my car and I would say it's worth what I paid. If you have an LT1 is has some usefulness, LT4 not so much. The best function for me was I was able to firm uo my shifts and change shift points. The car feels like it has a shift kit in it, making the purchase worthwhile. They are very easy to use, plug into the diagnostic port, from there just screen through and select what you want. I bought mine off that auction site. If you get one for the right price ($200 or less) I'd say go for it.
I wasted my money on the hypertech when I first bought the car then went to a better setup. A laptop and cable using Tunercat and Datamaster sfotware for tuning and diagnostics is a much better setup. I also like PCMFORLESS for a solid base tune.
Yea, I used it on my 96' with good results. Some time ago I installed a 160 thermostat and used the Hypertech to reprogram when the fans come on.
I purchased the Hypertech used on the internet (eBay), used it to reprogram and sold it the following week on eBay. I returned the Hypertech to its stock program (not VIN locked).
Its helpful for gear changes, moving shift points, and fan settings.
I paid less than retail on ebay. I installed a 160 degree thermo and changed the fans on/off. Highest temp I've seen with a/c on is 215F. That's the only reason I when with Hypertech.
