Those are the same guys that said putting a 160 stat in place of a 195 stat will keep the car from heating up to 230.

I'm thinking either the MAF removed was bad or not connected good. There should be no gains like that from descreening.

So you can just put a Camaro MAF into a Corvette? There are no calibration differences? I bought a Camaro MAF and I'm wondering if it will be ok for my LT4 vette.

I know an 'F' body MAF worked on my 86 415 L98; and is still on that engine. There was no difference.

I've never tried an 'F' body MAF on a LT1, but if my stock one ever fails, I'm definitely going to try one, from a wrecked 'F' body. $50 beats what the dealer and stores offer one for.

If you ever have a chance to handle a LT1 screen you'll find it's very much different than the L98 screens. Much, much thicker - not window screen like - and denser.

There's an interesting article in the current Newsweek about quantum mechanics. It seems that even the fact that you will measure something in the future can affect the current behavior of photons. Surely it is time that we moved beyond the placebo effect to advanced physics.

It would then seem obvious that your intention to chirp tires influenced the MAF and that the screen removal might have been unnecessary. Of course the effect caused by future actions might only occur if the future action occurred so don't think that you can lie to your Vette that you will remove the screen and then not do it.

More Kool-Aid please.

Spend some time on the F-body forums you'll come back lovin this place.

What's the actual size of the MAF on later C4's? I've seen them selling ported 3.5" MAF's on ebay (way overpriced). Is that the inside diameter they are advertising? I have also noticed that they list some for both C4's and C5's? How's that? Not that I'm buying in to it but I do remember a recent article where a magazine or performance shop claimed around 6 hp for switching to a ported MAF body from Mid America. It may have been an older episode of horsepower TV or something. I remember one show modifying a red C4. Anyone remember this or have a link? I'll try to look for it.

Maybe we should tell the newbies to use the search engine for "kiss my ***" instead of starting worthless threads on topics that have already been covered...

It is nice that all threads don't end up just dry bare bone facts, nice to see a little color included........but I am really getting bored with these kinda posts..

This is the best forum I've found so far, and I've been to Ford forums and Dodge forums as well. Good info on here, and people having fun. 99% of the members on here are great, and the moderator boots the other 1% eventually.

To the original poster.......I descreened my MAF and didn't really notice anything, but I'm sure it helped. With the size of the MAF any less restriction would be a plus. I also agree that the filter should take care of anything that would do any damage so the screens are worthless, unless you do remove the filter for track use.

No0bs asking dupe questions dont bother me if they are brand new, they may not know the site or be familiar with the search function. It bothers me when you see someone brand new with a real problem who posts a thread and all he gets is "Go do a search" and a bunch of people crying about no0bs..One in particular claimed to have a ton of links yet wouldnt post them for the guy, wth? Im sure if he knew where the answers were he wouldnt have posted a thread.

Now someone who has been here a few years and has read 500 threads on mufflers already, well...

Ok, I guess I need to explain myself then.

A senior forum member created a second username, Warp8, for the sole purpose of trolling threads and stirring up crap. Apparently he's afraid to say what he thinks using his normal username, so he's hiding behind another name. This is why I didn't give his response the time of day.

Let's put this one to bed.

I have a completely descreened.. er..gutted MAF from my 88 sitting somewhere in my garage.

Anyone want to to do a before and after dyno test?
