Mine has ZR1 tires on it, and hooks up amazing. No wheel hop, very little slipping(if I am careful with the throtle) and a head in the back of the seat
If its stock you'll be able to hook just fine on just about any sport tire or DR. Its the guys with 383 strokers that have a hard time keeping traction
When mine was stock, except for a converter and 3.54 gears, I pulled 1.7x's 60ft times on Mich. street tires. Never tried slicks with this combo.
Latter, I changed to a 4.09 rear, but at the same time I did the mods in my signature. I have pulled 1.6x's times on ET Street Bias tires. To be honest, the car hooks well and could pull lower, but the motor does not make the torque to do it at this time.
Also, wanted to point out, since I started running the ET Streets, I have broke 3 rears. The Dana 44 is not bullet proof, and with lots of 1.6x runs it will break when you start dead hooking.

I have seen 93 ragtop's car and it hooks amazing well on regular street tires (its an auto). My car is a totally different story being a 6spd, even with a SM alum FW and a very easy launch I can only get 1.80 60fts on regular 315/35r17 street tires. Back when I had the DM FW all I could do was 2.0's either spinning like crazy or bogging. On my 26X11.5 ET Streets I have run down in the low 1.60's consistantly and hit a few mid 1.50's launching really hard (5500rpm+) on the bottle. Be prepared to break stuff when you reach this level, as 93 ragtop stated he has broken a boat load of Dana 44's and so have alot of other people.

I usually forget to remove the fabric dash sun protector thingy when I go to the strip. The first launch and it always ends up in my face and I fumble around trying to throw it in the drivers seat. Thank God for automatic transmissions.
I'll add in my two cents. Although I can't come close to the amazing performances shown by Hookedup and Mackeyred, I'm still happy with my 92 A4 LT1. So far, in July of this year I have 22 runs. My average 60' time is 1.733, my best is 1.684, and the worst was 1.776.
It'll never be as good as a solid axle though. Rear end toes in and cambers in when it squats.
My snotty maybe 300Hp '87 A4 pulls 1.7X on DR's but only launchs on half the tyre when the camber changes as the bum goes down.
Never spins on DR's , would spin 3/5 times on street tires regardless of burnout / pressure/ launch technique.
i have never brought my vette to the track yet or tried wrinkle walls on it or really worried about traction but wouldn't a set of et streets in theory help with the camber issue?

They hook (ET Streets) extremely well on a C-4, at least for me. If I understand what you are saying, that the tire could wrinkle slightly different on the inside vs the outside, that may be part of it.

The ET streets get their great traction from the soft compound , not from sidewall quish like a true slick.
My observations have never seen the sidewall distort enough to compensate for the outside lift during camber change. After a run my tires show visible marks on the inner half with nothing on the outer.
The camber change on launch can be dialed out by changing the chamber setting but then it would be wrong for stret use.
