got the MAF and replaced it, car runs great again! Thanks to everyone for your input
Glad to hear you got it fixed!
If you haven't already you should change both the MAF power and burn off relays with every MAF senor swap....or at least the burn off relay to prevent smoking your new MAF if it sticks closed. You can check the old MAF by looking deep inside/behind the screens to see if the thin filiment was broken/burned in to.....this usually means the burn off relay got stuck and that's what fried the old MAF. New relays are cheap and they will give your new MAF a fighting chance of surviving more than 4 months at a pop.
Hallo guys, I own a 1986 Chevrolet Corvette and I had the same problem with the maf sensor, I went to a really good macanic and what he did is disconecting the maf sensor plug and while the car switched off and then after you turn on the engine and everything works fine, I drive all the time since then and the car works clean.
I haven’t completely read your thread on this. My brain doesn’t have the patience anymore. But a few years ago I had an ‘86 with a MAF code 33. While I can only offer this as a POSSIBILITY, it might be something for you to think about.
If you decide to look at this, take a look at post #21 in the thread. It’ll tell you what I found in my case. Some of the other guys suggestions in the thread may be helpful as well.
Best of luck.
