Default Buying shortblock, what else is needed?

Please excuse the ignorance on my part. My brain is hurting. It's all I've been thinking about the past two weeks. So many options, ugh.

Okay, if I buy or have a shortblock assembled for me, what else will I need? I am already have the intake and exhaust. I was thinking of the...

heads
cam and lifters
roller rockers
oil pan and pump
distributor
plugs and wires

I know I'm forgetting lots, that's why I come here.

Sorry, I guess I was too vague.

I have a SR that I'll be using. And most of the other stuff.

Basically my motor is shot and I am replacing it with a shortblock and re-using my SR buying AFR 195's.

Basically everything outside the engine is taken care of. Just need to know the internals.

I already figured on gaskets, fluids and such. I realized pushrods, valve covers, waterpump (it needs replacing) and timing chain.

Question about timing chain. Should I go gear driven or are they too noisy?

A gear drive sounds realy but they only last about 20k mile.
If you can find it in your budget, I would go with a belt drive and cover,if you can afford to have it fitted to the block
If you stil have the original balancer on the car the rubber between the 2 pieces is most likely shot after all these years.I would also consider if you are going to race it ,you need an SFI balancer,I would get the fluid one it doesn't have an expiration date on it
