The Bose amp realay started acting up 3 years ago. Speakers worked part time. Totally quit last winter. I actually bought the relay a year ago, but when I took the radio out I could find the correct wires but the relay was hiding somewhere behind the breadbox. I knew it was there, but I could not see it or touch it. I am very shy about taking the dash apart. That 20 year old stuff is fragile and expensive. I just decided to wait. Today I went from another direction. With the ECM dropped out, I started pulling down wires and other stuff. Suddenly I struck gold. I saw it, fought till it was unplugged and plugged the new one in. I just crammed the new one up in there with a flasher and a bunch of wires. Turned the key and the speakers came to life. A small victory but it doesn't take much to make me happy. Just had to post it.
They gave me a 2 year warranty on all parts and labor. As long as I take it to one of there preferred shops it's all free. Did you get the same thing or did the shop just say your own your on? If they did, call Sony and complain. They would straighten it out.
Do you guys think this is the relay causing issues also on my car? My Bose player will power up, but I get no sound what-so-ever coming from the speakers. Have tried the radio and CD player and no sound, but the Bose player does turn on... Anyways, would that definetly be a relay that simply needs to be replaced to resolve my issues? Someone once told me that i would be spending 500$ to get it all repaired ,,,, so never really messed with it (although he really wasnt that experienced i believe and was just taking a guess)... I need to get serious about fixing it though,, im going crazy with no tunes, lol....
So far my experience trying to get to that little bugger has not been good. I've been working on it for a few hours and still have not gotten to it. I'm trying to pull the Breadbox, and man is that a chore. I'm still working on it though. Looking on the forum I can see that pulling the hush pad was needed to pull the breadbox but can't find how to pull the hush pad. It's drving me crazy and I a week out from the Carlisle show!!

I gutted the entire system myself and started from scratch. New wire, infinity speakers etc.
Did you pull down the ecm and go from there ? I was afraid the dash parts would crumble from age. Be careful with that stuff.
I can feel the darn thing with my hand under the pass side dashboard but I cannot get a wrench on the bolts from there so I was trying to go in through the breadbox. Am I off track?

You are there. Break the tabs off the relay, that hold the connector. Unplug it and leave it there. No way to get a wrench on it. Just plug in the new one and stuff it up there. It cant go anywhere.
