Hey Jeff,
Your progress is coming out great..I was checking the extra photos out on your page.
I wanted to ask you about the Door Panel...
Can one install this on the 84-89 cars and not have any dash rubbing problems?
I thought about just adding the newer door panels but not the dash itself.

Whats involved for that swap? It doesnt look hard to do at all.
Thanks!

Real nice work youre doing.
:)

Bill,
You would need to do some custom work to get the panel to fit.. Not so much getting the panel on and lining everything up but the newer door panel is thicker. It sticks inward towards the dash. The old Dash was basically close to being flush to the framing of the door.. The newer dash is narrower. kind of hard to explain. I will try to remember to get some pictures to show you next time I am working on the car.

Out of curiosity, what did you have to pay for the parts for the new interior?

Let's see:

$650 got me the Dash undercarrier, harness, console, steering column, Dash Pad, Glove Box, HVAC tubing. and a few odds and ends
$350 for a new engine harness
$50 for the pair of door panels
$50 for the dash hush panels
$150 approx for the A/C controller, cluster and headlight switch
$75 for the bezels and vents
$50 for the 7727 ECM

I think that is all

I still need the A/C Programmer (C68) and the CCM. I am using my 89 ABS ECM but I think if I could get a deal on the 91 ABS ECM and harness, I would switch that as well. I am going to change some wires to accomodate the 89 ABS ECM for now.

The Engine harness was not needed for the conversion but it is making things much easier and less to be concerned with when I turn the key ;)

If I took my car apart down to that level, I'd probably take one final glance and :cry ball my eyes out! ;)

Jeff,
Thats what I was thinking...they did seem to stick out farther.I liked the idea of changing the dash to the newer style, but realized due to other projects and money,I'll have to wait a good while.
Was kinda hoping the newer door panels would fit without pressing into the old style dash.
Thanks again.
:)

God I hope the inside of my car never looks like that.

Changing the carpet and seats was enough for me. :chevy
