Default Wiring Problem

Ok all you wiring experts got a problem with my 1986 El Camino I just bought......All the courtesy lights i.e. Under the dash, dome, and under the hood only come on when you have the key on.....There is an after market radio installed......Please give an 'Ol man a fix to this nasty problem.......

Sounds like whoever installed the radio swapped around the switched and unswitched power source. Then again, the underhood light should be mercury controlled.

Hey ol man,
the door switches turn on the courtesy lights by grounding the bulb gang ground wire unless the wire that goes to the door switches is already grounded.
when the key is turned on, and the lights all go on, it might be
1. that grounded wire,
2. and the radio lights auto dim or manual dim wire attached to the courtesy lights wire instead of the headlight / parking light wire.
