I have 335/17 rear tires on 11 rims...
The tire is rated for rims from 11 to 13. I'm in the lower sid of specs.
I don't like the way it looks
Now I have 12" rims and I'll be just in the middle of the specs.
IMO to use 315 tires you need a 11" rim.

From my understanding , it might work but the outcome is not good.
Bad tire ware and bulgy , I believe the max on 9.5 is 295 . My opinion you would be better staying with those parameters in this case.
There was a thread about this very topic on Fraxx. Someone put a 315 Hoosier on a 9.5 in SawBlade. It fit, but it wasn't pretty at all. I doubt it had any more rubber actually on the road than a 275 on a 9.5 in rim. I wouldn't try it.
...have you consulted a few tire stores to get their opinions?
The info from tire rack is what the tire manufacturer says is the safe range for the tire. You prefer an opinion from the kid at the tire store who was working at burger king last week?
Thanks for the replies. Pretty much what I was thinking. I just wanted to get some other folks opinions or experience. I saw some 315's on an auction site at a good price and thought I would investigate. I replaced the rears with 275's this spring. I like the profile but they just don't fill up the wheel well. I am going back to a 285. Probably BFG kdws.
