Just lookin' for clues as to what to check on my 89 vert.
The Cruise control was working fine, until I was messin' with the Idle air control. I took the IAC off, cleaned it up, and re installed it. While I was "in the area" i checked and made a slight adjustment on the TPS (to .54 volts).
Now the cruise control doesn't work. I checked all the vaccuum hoses and could not find any that were not connected. What do you think I screwed up??
Did you look at the check valve located right near the distributor as well? Maybe you "tugged" when you should have "pushed" and pulled a line off of it.
What you touched has nothing to do with cruise. The most common cause is a misadjusted switch mounted on brake pedal under the dash, which could be venting all the time. Has anyone been under there? Then there's the check valve behind plenum near distributor.
This forum....you guys....ROCK!!
And pictures too!!
I didn't have a clue where or what to look for. Now I know where to look, and even though I haven't yet, I already know you've "hit the nail on the head!" I had to disconnect the EST(?) located just under the distrubuter, close to the firewall...to adjust the idle without inputs from the ECM. Dollars to doughnuts says I must have inadvertantly disconnected that valve.
Thank you, thank you
