$400 for labor and rebuild kit if you remove diff yourself.

Gear costs depend on ratio and D36 vs D44. D36 gears are less common and more expensive. 3.07+ gears for 2 series cases cost even more.

Speedo correction = $10 for a new gear but will only correct within 10% of a 4.10. Exact correction requires a calibrator or aftermarket speedo gear, either is about $100.
94-96 automatics require reprogramming computer.

I paid $300 for my Dana OEM 4.10 gearset, $350 for the turn-key install, and did the speedo reprogram myself.

DTS did mine for ~$450 bagged-and-tagged.

Roughly $210 for a 4.11 R&P set for the stock 3-series carrier, $95 for the install kit, and $150 for the labor to setup the gears.

Make sure "a guy" has the tools & experience to do the job right.
