Default Fuel Injector Replacement Help Needed

I'm going to change the injectors in a L98. Are there any safe short cuts to do this? Are there any parts under all that stuff that I should change while I'm in there? What gaskets am I going to need? I looked around the Forum for installation instructins buy haven't found any. Did I miss someplace? Anyplace? Thanks, Walt

Your year/car may be different but on mine this was a simple and fairly quick job. A few bolts and up the plenum came off. The passenger side fuel rail I had to pull out the back two injectors as it would just not fit out from under the runners. The new injectors were shorter and I could reinstall the rail with all four injectors hooked in. I checked the torque of the lower runner and intake bolts while I was there. You need to unhook the obvious stuff, TB cables, vacuum lines, etc. I needed no gaskets. My car has mods.

Oh there are quite a few threads out there, consider Ford injectors, as they are not as expensive as GM. (Unless money is not a factor). There is a thread on how to remove them without taking off the runners. I think if you search, try SamLam he has covered this issue before.

I did mine recently. I spent more time scrapping gaskets than anything else. Some say to leave the runners on, but I had to take them off.

I changed the EGR and IAT while I was under there. I should have changed the FPR too.

Just be organized, or you'll wish you were organized when your bolting it back together.

oh, I went with the ACCEL injectors. Any other brand was double the price. Just watch the clip location.

Yea, use the search function, advanced, include archive posts, alot of posts on injectors, replacements.
Stay away from Accel injectors, ford injectors highly rated and good, careful of bolts, have FSM, take pics as you go, new gaskets for TB & Runners.
Old trick, take pizza box draw LF & RT side pics, and put the bolts in the pic as you remove, they are different sizes for some locations, but all this and more are located in prior posts.

Search for sam lam he has a good procedure for replacing injectors. A lot of people say do not use the Accel injectors however a lot of people have been using them since they changed the design.I used them with no problems so far. I got them at summit , I also cleaned the plenum and runners . You may want to consider EGR valve and Fuel Pressure regulator- you will have easy access to them with the plenum off as well as a throttle body bypass - which is described in sam's procedure. It took me 2 afternons to do this however I took my time and cleaned everything. I also bought new gaskets I believe it wa an upper set from summit as well. I also changed out all the orings in the runners. Good luck

I used Sam Lam's method with good results. I also chanaged the thermostat & EGR valve while I was in there. I used a Delco EGR valve, heard bad things about other brands. You can get it at The last Detail, they have lots of Delco parts.
