spell check isn't the only issue here...

I assume you have a ZF6? If so, the only real short shift options are the B&M or the Hurst.

From consensus, the B&M is more of a drag racers shifter, whereas the Hurst is more of a road course, autocross, street shifter. The effort of the B&M is much higher than stock, from what I understand.

However, I have the Hurst and love it.

As for DIY, do yourself a favour first and get the Helm Factory Service Manual for your car. It will be money well spent - www.helminc.com.

The manual that came with your car is the damned owners manual, and that only tells you WHEN to change the oil, not how.

This is a DIY level project, but if your car is nearing a new clutch, it might be worth doing them together.

yeah I do have a ZF6. I just ha d a stage 2 clutch installed along with a fidanza flywheel. clutch is nice, flywheel sucks. (LOUD). but its smooth, anywase. Im not looking for extra effort. I like easy things. So your saying your hurst is really nice? smooth or what? is reverse any differant? i will get a manual, but should i attempt it or not?

LOVE IT!!!! Took me a few miles to get used to it, but love it now. I can even have a Coke in the cup holder AND use reverse at same time.

Hahaha! After a couple month wait, I finally got my Hurst (complete with bearings) last week, gonna install it sometime over the winter. Meanwhile, my wife and I seem to have a ritual - she puts a bottle of water in the cup holder, and I smack it out of there shifting into reverse

The reverse lock-out is eliminated with the Hurst.

I did my own install. It was a PITA, but well worth the effort. Too bad you didn't have one installed when the tranny was out for the flywheel/clutch install.

Reverse ring is gone. It's kinda rough if you have big hands. I did mine at one of my oil change shops so getting under it is a breeze. Took me and one of my techs about an hour. Well worth it.

I put a B&M in my car, and I like it a lot. It is so much better than stock.

95% of people on here only have experience with one shifter (or neither).

Ask someone who's driven both.

I like my Hurst. Have never driven a B&M.

Hurst reduces throw by almost 30%. B&M is more.

I have the B&M ripper in my 95 ZF. 100% improvement over stock, A little more effort but much more precise. Alot less travel too. The stocker would almost let me hit the stereo when driving in a spirited mode.

I have the ripper B&M, and it does take a little more effort, and its well worth it. It comes with directions, all done inside the car. Not that hard of a job, and a huge improvment in your shifter over stock.

You didn't have to crawl underneath and tap a pin out of the transmission?
