Short Shifter Anyone?
I assume you have a ZF6? If so, the only real short shift options are the B&M or the Hurst.
From consensus, the B&M is more of a drag racers shifter, whereas the Hurst is more of a road course, autocross, street shifter. The effort of the B&M is much higher than stock, from what I understand.
However, I have the Hurst and love it.
As for DIY, do yourself a favour first and get the Helm Factory Service Manual for your car. It will be money well spent - www.helminc.com.
The manual that came with your car is the damned owners manual, and that only tells you WHEN to change the oil, not how.
This is a DIY level project, but if your car is nearing a new clutch, it might be worth doing them together.

I did my own install. It was a PITA, but well worth the effort. Too bad you didn't have one installed when the tranny was out for the flywheel/clutch install.

Ask someone who's driven both.
I like my Hurst. Have never driven a B&M.
Hurst reduces throw by almost 30%. B&M is more.

LOVE IT!!!! Took me a few miles to get used to it, but love it now. I can even have a Coke in the cup holder AND use reverse at same time.
