I'm trying to replace the 4 cluster lights....I have the gauge pod removed from the car and the vented back panel off; however, I am now stuck. There is a 12 pin connector that appears to connect the top circuit board to the bottom board and I cannot figure how it comes apart so I can gain access to the light sockets. Not wanting to break a solder point or crack the board, I thought I would try posting here to seek help. Thanks in advance for any replies.
The 4 lamps can be removed from the front while the the cluster is still in the car!!!! Each lamp has 2 parallel pins that push straight into the socket. If you pull the dash cover you will see 4 bright silver covers over the lamps and you remove those covers, wrap some tape around the lamp and stick the excess together and take a needle nosed pliers, grab the excess and pull straight out. To install new lamps, find some tubing that fits over the lamps and push the lamp straight in and while pushing on the lamp, pull the tubing off the lamp. The only reason ever to remove the cluster is when you mistakenly rotated the lamp which removes the bayonet type of socket holder or the socket holder isn't making good connection the circuit board.
From where you are now, the rear board (closest to the driver) has the 4 bayonet (push turn) sockets which you should be able to operate without unplugging the single row of pins on the front board that plugs into the socket on the rear board.
