Center Console Removal Question
I'm trying to mount a small rocker switch under the ashtray lid on a flat surface next to my cig lighter on my 85 and to give the terminals and wires enough room underneath I'm going to have to make a hole in the bottom plastic console mounting plate under the top console plate. For some reason my FSM doesn't show how it's mounted in but I have an older GM parts manual that shows an exploded view of some of the bolt locations but apparently not all of them as I removed the two at the front edge of the tray and the one under the black trim mat in the center compartment, the compartment door, the four screws on either side of it and the center console lock tumbler but it's still bolted in somewhere. My guess at this point is the seats will have to come out and I'll have to take out the screws on the side panels and remove them too before I can take that tray out? Anybody have any tips or a better way to do this?

I have a 86..If memory serves I had two bolts in front...four screws in the bottom of the console (hidden under the felt and had caps on them)..plus the screws on top...the two on the side by the seats you should be able to get by tilting the seat foward with it all the way up...I think that's it..compleatly replaced my interior 9 mos ago...I'm old and I don't remember so well......Now,,,,What Were We Talkin About ?????
