Was there a big difference in sound? How about resonance inside the Vette? I have a B&B cat back and I am thinking of replacing the resonator with straight pipes as the exhaust is too quiet for me. From what I have read here, you won't see any big gains in performance without long tubes and serious mods to the engine. Some say the sound is changed with an X-pipe.
I was told an X-Pipe would help a bit with the bottom end torque...I wanted a little more grunt out of the hole so I had one fabbed and installed...I run long tubes with just pipes back to stock mufflers...didn't do much for me but it only cost $100 total...I did notice a change in exhaust note..not bad, just different...some install the X to clear up resonance so I'm told but that was not an issue with me...
It goes in next week so no its exactly the same as it was before I ordered it. I am also going with long tube headers high flow cats and 3" pipes so it would not realy be a fair compairison.
Definately changed the tone.I have headers and straight through pipes with just Borlas on the rear and it had a real bark to it when you got on the throttle but this quietened it somewhat. As for torque I'm not saying I could feel a difference but all the experts say there's a definite gain to be had.Read up on it,the theory is sound(no pun intended).
I had two straight pipes in place of the resonator on mine, with stock manifolds/cats/ Borla mufflers. It sounded OK but kind of weird at full throttle.
I installed a Magnaflow X pipe and now it sounds a lot cleaner, maybe more of a high pitched tone especially at higher RPM's... i think it sounds more exotic. Seemed to get rid of some of the part throttle drone as well
