Default Injector Question.....

I am going to change my injectors tomorrow. I have two questions: 1)What is the stock rating for the stock fuel injectors...are they 24 lb? 2) If i put an injector in there that is a little bigger than stock, will it affect the car (putting 26 lb injectors if stock is 24)...like reduce gas mileage, etc.? By the way, the car is all stock except for ngk plugs, the airfoil thing, accel coil, and taylor wires, which all dont do much. Thanks for any help.

Our stock injectors are rated at 22lb/hr at 43.5psi.

It shouldn't hurt mileage since the ECM will compensate quickly. It will effect open loop performance at WOT though.

There are tables on my site that show how fuel flow varies with fuel pressure and for different size injectors.

The best way to tune fuel air at WOT in a MAF motor like ours is to use an Adjustable Fuel Pressure Regulator (AFPR) and some sort of dyno device.

Thanks, thats exactly what I needed to know. The thing is that i dont know what injectors i can get till tomorrow because im getting aftermarket ones. I would like to put in an AFPR, but I may not be able to get one, and I'll just have to get the regular one from the auto parts store, because mine is bad....you can smell gas through the vaccuum hoses. If I can only get 24 lb injectors, will it affect WOT performance noticeably? Hope not. Thanks

Correct me if I am wrong, but by your signature it appears that you have an 85. I believe 85 was the only year TPI to run 22# injectors from the factory rated at 36 psi, which will probably equat to a 24# injector run at the standard 43 psi.
