So the #88958689 caddie, ltx, lsx roller lifter will work in an '89 L98 also? Or would the lifter kit #12371042 be a better selection, considering they are so close in price? Which one would work better w/a cam w/.539"/.558" lift? Thanks,

I'm here...just stuffin my face with turkey still Yes, the LSx lifters are exactly he same dimensions as the old SBC stuff (assuming hydraulic roller of course). You could easily run the "LS7" lifters PN 12499225 and be good up to about 7000rpm. They are $99.25 and free shipping!! If you look into the issue farther, they have the same casting number as the 12371042's do
We'll be working tomorrow (Friday) and Monday to help with any questions you might have!
If you have a set of roller lifters for $100 that are of decent quality (factory or better) and fit a 1990 L98 I'll take them.
Let me know.
The 12499225's will work perfectly for you as well! $99.25 and free shipping! We'll be there Friday and Monday to help....and of course you can order online and receive the free shipping as well!
I'm down for a set of the #12499225's. Would rather use a USPS Money Order. Can you send me your address via email plz.? Then I will get it right out to you. My email is in my sig. Thanks and Happy Holidays!!

Call those guys and get that lined out. They'll need to setup your account and start a ticket so that when your money order arrives it'll go to the right place.
That practice is specifically NOT recommended by every engine parts manufacturer I have ever seen address the subject.
RACE ON!!!
Why is that? I had done it from advice from an "old timer" and everything worked fine. It was a year or so later that I heard for the first time that it was not recommended. I would think getting as much oil in as possible would be best, or if you are reusing old lifters to submerse them in oil, or at least keep them standing up, to keep as much oil in them as possible. Do you have any idea what ill effects would come from this? I have no idea why it is not recommended. I only suggested it because jsup is having a problem and it would be worth a try. But for $100 for a new set of lifters on your doorstep, I might jump on that bandwagon myself.
