My digital dash cluster in my 84 Corvette needs some help. When I turn the headlights on, only the RPM gauge will light up, the gas area gauge and the MPH gauges stay dark. All of my gauges work perfectly however, but only 1 out of the 3 illuminates. It's been this way ever since I bought the car. Is this as simple as removing it and installing new bulbs? Is that even easy? If so, how much are new bulbs and where can I find them? Thank you!
If you suspect bulbs, remove the front bezel and inspect the bulbs. Turn the key to the "On" positions and which light up. There are 4 of them.
The bulb is an 882. They can be changed from the front as long as the plastic bulb base is intact. If not, the cluster needs to be removed, opened, and bulbs twisted in place from behind.
it is just as easy to remove the cluster and change the bulbs. I dropped one inside trying to replace through the hole from the front and had to open her up anyways. It is a very simple thing to do, and at the same time you can replace the smaller bulbs for the high beams and directionals.(while you are in there)
