My ABS relay has died (BOSCH 0 332 512 006), and I'm expecting a replacement to be very expensive. I can get a 10 Amp SPST relay for a couple of bucks and was thinking of using a few general purpose diodes to 'make' an ABS relay. Also the pinout is slightly different in this relay, so I may have to make some flyleads with spade connectors to fit into the socket.
Has anyone already tried this or found an inexpensive supplier of the correct relay?
The circuit looks easy enough to do, the diodes seem to be there to protect the sensitive electronics from coil kickback.
Upon closer inspection it seems that one of the diodes is a big zener diode (Bosch 006869), and is mated to a huge heatsink (perhaps the reson for this relay's size). I can't find a source for the zener, so I guess I'm gonna have to buy a new relay :(
How much did it cost?
I've alredy emailed Jeff Kopp so I expect to hear something soon.
