Check out the zz-4 motor offered by GM. It is a brand new motor and has the same 113 cylinder heads that came with the 88-91 vettes.
I ran one for years. Dead reliable, ran 12.70's in the 1/4 and worked with the stock tune on my 87. Your car is speed density, so it may need a tune.

No matter what the rating on the engine is, once you put the TPI on top of it you'll lose a ton of HP. These are rated with a carb and headers.

ZZ4 is the closest to your engine, the cam is not far from your stock profile, but it wont make its rated 355hp once you put TPI on it. Nowhere close.

I have been looking into this for some time, and I believe this is the way to go. Understand that, no matter what engine you buy, you will also need to buy a new, higher flowing intake, like a Miniram, Superam, a converted LT1 intake, or the FIRST intake. You will also need headers.
I would also install the LT4 Hot Cam, it comes w/ the cam, RR, and push rods, the sell on Ebay for about $500.00.
Check out this link for the ZZ4 GM engine http://paceperformance.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=194 848

If your car is a 6-speed, you will need a new clutch/flywheel depending on the miles on your car.
You should be able to do everything for less that 6K.

Good luck

Check this out. I came across it recently and it looked like a good deal. Add heads of your choice and your certainly under the price of the Golen longblock. http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/CHEVY...QQcmdZViewItem
