TPI performance replacement engines?
Im looking to get in the 345-380 hp range. with minor mods to the tpi i was looking at this one http://www.golenengineservice.com/html/chevy_tpi.html but dont want to shell out $6k for a motor.
any ideas ?
thanks
I ran one for years. Dead reliable, ran 12.70's in the 1/4 and worked with the stock tune on my 87. Your car is speed density, so it may need a tune.

ZZ4 is the closest to your engine, the cam is not far from your stock profile, but it wont make its rated 355hp once you put TPI on it. Nowhere close.

I would also install the LT4 Hot Cam, it comes w/ the cam, RR, and push rods, the sell on Ebay for about $500.00.
Check out this link for the ZZ4 GM engine http://paceperformance.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=194 848
If your car is a 6-speed, you will need a new clutch/flywheel depending on the miles on your car.
You should be able to do everything for less that 6K.
Good luck
