87 transmission swap
Will the zf 6 speed from the later C4 drop in a 87? I have an auto and wish to change to a std. Will the bellhousing for the zf mate up with the early L98? or do I need a bell housing for a 4-3 which came stock in the car? Is the drive shaft different for the ZF?

Cost of my swap was ~$1600, but I later did gears too, for another $400.

I converted my '87 to ZF and have done several other Auto to ZF conversions. Either ZF trans (blue or black tag) will bolt in the early C4. Requires bellhousing (bolts right up to all L98 blocks), driveshaft, ladder and most all other parts from a ZF equipped car. Including positive battery cable, starter, dust shield, trans tunnel hump, etc.
At that point, you may be better off just buying a ZF vette. It is quite a bit of work.
