What valve covers are you using? I am running LT4 210's (or trying to!) for my 383 and ran into a problem with my die cast moroso valve covers. I did some grinding on what WAS holding the covers off from seating and realized that now the hold up appears to be the polylocks. I'm running 7/16" studs and comp cams promagnums with polylocks. Anyone have a similar setup and a valve cover that works?

I have the 195's (Same casting as yours) and am using my stock covers, just trimmed up a bit because of the lip you already know about. I also have ran a set of covers I got off ebay that I hat to cut the supports out of that may be closer to what you have.

Here is couple of shots of the mods I did to the old covers

Here is a good shot of the motor with the AFR's and Pro Mags w/ 716 studs

I used a "tall" v/c.
Same head, valve-train as you.
I had no prob with the wiper motor.

Just a word of caution I almost forgot about. The alternator will hit the drivers side V/C unless it is notched, ask me how I know. I was able to modify my old alt. just enough to clear but I cant see you ever being able to use a taller set of covers without the notch. I had already switched back to the stockers before my alternator was replaced so it completely slipped my mind

Did you have to do any clearancing on the factory covers?

I thought about running an old style tall cover, but after looking at the alternator and bracket, I realized it was not really an option.

Just removing the drip tabs and trimming the inner lip so they would seat onto the AFR's
