Default gmpp ASA hot cam...

Recently I have been trying to find a cam with the same specs as the LT4 hot cam but with a more lopey idle. I found out it was the asa hot cam it has the same specs but instead of having the 112 lobe separation of the hot cam it has 110. But I can't seem to find that cam anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find this cam? And how much will the 110 lobe separation effect my cars drivability?

The ASA cam is for the LSX series motors.

If you want something bigger than the Hot Cam and want to buy it from GM there is the 846 Cam (222/230 .543/.563 112LSA) and the 847 cam (234/242 .575/.595 112 lsa).

As far as where you could find one specifically like you requested. I belive AI has a few smaller cams similar to the Hot Cam but ground on 110lsa. Any of the big cam grinders can custom grind you something similar and put the lobe seperation anywhere you want it. Call Comp, Reed, Isky, Crane (who grinds the GM cams), Howards ect.

Drive ablity has alot more going on than just the lobe seperation angle on your camshaft. Properly tuned a SMALL cam like the Hot Cam with 110lsa is going to drive very similar to one ground on 112lsa. Power wise it (110lsa) will make a few more peak HP and come up on the tq band quicker, but it also falls off the power band sooner than a wider lsa cam (we are takling a few hundred RPM here). It may have a slightly rougher idle, but its hard to say how much rougher with only 218/224 duration @.050.

Will

That's a sweet sounding car Mic. What kind of exhaust setup are you running?

Thanks man . My mods are in profile but the cam is similar to HC but on a 110 lsa. EM headers, no cats, x pipe into corsa mufflers, no resonator.

Hell.....Why go to a bigger cam just to get more lope.

Just dial your PCM idle speed down to 500 RPMs.......or better yet, call Crane Cams and tell them you want a HOT Cam but that it must be ground on a 110 LSA.

I mean......Crane will do a custom grind; won't they?????
