Default Electric WP Install Issue

I have a 94 C4. WP was leaking so I removed it and am attempting to replace it with an electric pump. No issues so far but I can't seem to hammer out the middle spline on the mechanical pump to get out the innards to I can install the new pump. I've hit it pretty hard many times with a hammer but it won't budge. I'm afraid I will crack the aluminum housing if I hit it much harder.

Any advice? Machine shop maybe to press it out??? Anyone have a problem like this?

A machine shop could definately press it out. I used a hammer/punch and a pretty hard blow to remove mine.
