I just bought the autometer pro shift lite. Three wires and its pretty small in length and diameter. You can see it at autometers website....it looks pretty slick. You don't have to have any other components or anything else. The rpm pills slide right into it.

Re: Shift Lights (Red96Coupe)
You could also check out the Harlan shiftlite. For the $ I think you get a pretty good product. I like Autometer products but this shiftlite is small yet bright, doesn't require new "pills" to be bought if you want to change the activation point and LEDS are standard.
I agree. I think the Harlan mini-shiftlite is the best unit out there. Its tiny enough that you can hide it most anywhere (see my install procedure, mentioned above, at http://www.hashmarks.com/ShiftLight/index.html) but plenty bright. The best part is you don't have to mess with those darn pills! Just throw a couple of DIP switches to set the RPM.
Nice to see that Harlan has a new website so maybe he's back into making these again. For awhile there he wasn't responding to emails according to a friend that's been trying to contact him for one. I see his price has gone up from $35 to $50, but its still a very good deal. :yesnod:
Thanks, everyone. I wrote to Harlan and he said he can ship one of his lights in less than two weeks.
It looks that the Autometer pills go up in increments of 200. It's cool that the Harlan unit allows 100 rpm adjustments. Plus, I expect that my shift point will ultimately be alot higher - I would need a new set of pills.
Why are LEDs better? Is it because they light faster?
