I have a 1995 Vette with the headlight motor going out. I am not going to replace the gear, and will replace the entire unit. Anyone have any photos on replacement of the entire unit? Thanks. David K.
I have the old motor, and will replace the gear in it. Now I have the new motor installed and it works fine. It's not too difficult. If I would have known what I was doing I would have taken pictures. Only a few ''redos'' and I got it done. The headlight assembly does need to come off, and the wires into the headlight need to be taken out in order to get the entire piece in it. Just sayin

This article describes and pictures the gear replacement method to fix the headlight motor. Others are correct ... the motor needs to be removed anyway. I replaced the entire driver's side motor on my '90 Coupe to get it inspected. Total time ... 90 minutes. Next, however, I think I will tackle the gear replacement in the passenger side motor.

Here is good link to use, I have the same problem you have right now, and was told to rebuild cause if you buy OEM they have the same type of bushing, and it will go bad in the future, and I can believe that cause in 1996 I replaced both motors, and now have the same problem, and my car isn't daily driver, and really don't use it at night time. Going to replace the inserts this time. http://mywebpages.comcast.net/zrjuan/headlight.html
Mine is a daily driver, and I use it all the time. That's why I kept the old motor, and will do a gear replacement. If it goes out, I have a spare. I just saw you link above too. That will be helpful the next time I need it. Thanks again guys. Thanks.
