Side Window Weatherstriping Replacement
'94, Convert. I did a search and looked in service manual, but I am not sure how the old weatherstripping comes off or how the new goes on.
Safe a couple of screws, is the weatherstripping held by the glue, only? Do I have to remove the retainer or simply fit the new weather sripping into the retainer?
Any instruction and tips would be appreciated.

Well, where should I start. First buy some releasing agent. That is something that removes glue. Next have about 8 hours cleared in the day, cause that is how long it took me to do my convertible. Next just rip out the seals, and then start removing old glue and seals, till there isn't a trace of glue or sealant. Then you take the new seals, and see there is a track to install the new seals. If you need to use glue just little does it, 3M is a good glue. There are two seals are on each side, that seals the track when it is up and closed. You can see them if you fold the top down and look to see where it folds, be careful of those seals. If you remove them install them back cause if there not there you will get wind noise and water in the car when it rains. Oh yes have fun!!!!!!

Are you talking about the exterior window "Swipe" on the door? If so, you'll need to remove the door panel for starters and then carefully pry out the old one. Once it's out, you'll see exactly how the new one goes in (did mine 5 years ago and the memory has faded). An hour per door.

If so, I was able to swap mine without taking the door panel off. It is held in by 3-4 clips and 3-4 rivets (can't remember exact number). Let the window all the way down. I used a cordless drill to drill the rivets out. Pull in and up on the old weatherstrip and it's out. Just slide the new one in and make sure the clips secure it. I didn't have to put new rivets in and it is holding fine. When I have a reason to really need to pull the door panel off, I will put rivets in. Took about 20 minutes each door.
If you are talking about the A-pillar weatherstrip (WS around the windshield), then just pull the old off and prep really well...really well. That is what takes the longest. Make sure to trouble fix the new one on before using WS adhesive.
