Default Harmonic balancer?

What exactly are the symptoms of a bad harmonic balancer? I have only had my LT4 for a few weeks now and I noticed a slight vibration at 3000rpms in all gears. Could this be that, or somthing else?

In my case the rubber began to come out of the balancer. Look closely at the damper and see if the rubber belt is starting to come out between the two sections. You can see this easily if the car is on a lift.

I found the best value was as my local NAPA store. They have a quality product at a fair price. Installation is pretty easy if you have the correct puller for removing the old one.

Default LT4 damper is different than an LT1 damper

If you have an LT4, make sure you get an LT4 damper.

The LT4 damper is "dual-mass" and the LT1 damper is single-mass.

The LT4 damper has two metal "rings" mounted on rubber, while the LT1 damper has only one.

Sounds like mine. I just put a new damper on the LT1, because of an obvious wobble and the engine is much smoother now. It was a joy getting the old damper out from under there, had to pull the WP. I have read the larger LT4 damper is even more joy.

Several people posted a tip for getting them off. IIRC it was as simple as backing out the bolts several turns and starting the engine and letting it run for a few seconds.

getting it off is easy, getting it out, not so much
