Did you investigate what was causing the interference on the stock covers ??
I have the worlds biggest, fattest roller rockers and made them fit into my factory covers(L98). (Trimmed drip tabs, trimmed sides of bolt towers, squished baffles.)
Tall valve covers may also give you grief with the wiper motor cover.

There's no standard for "tall" valve covers. Some are as much as 1.5 inches higher.

Pro Form makes a set that's only 1/4 inch taller than stock, that should do the trick. Summit has them.

When I put my ProForms on I had to grind the hell out of the back of the alternator.

I also had to shim the alternator bracket about a 1/4 inch.

What ever covers you d3cide to go with have to have a notch for the Alt. Many of the covers out there for LT1's have the notch on the wrong cover. Not a huge deal but if you decide to go with them you will have to reroute the PVC vent and of course do what ever trimming needed for the R/R's.

LT1s must be different. I just wanted him to know that "tall" means different things and that there may be a solution.

Probably so, that wasn't directed at you, just FYI for him.

I had to shim the alt. bracket up until it cleared the valve covers. I also reinforced the front part of the alternator bracket using a strip of metal bolting it to the alt and its bracket. Sorry I didn't do pics.
