Default Battery replacement

It appears that it is time to replace the battery in my 90 Vette. I would like input as to the type of battery that members have had success using. It is at least 7 years old.

I only put about 2500 miles a year on the car, so it sometimes sits for a few weeks at a time.

Are the small bolts replaceable that are used on side post batteries. My positive is slightly chewed up from a previous battery replacement before I purchased the car. Is so, is there a trick to getting them out?

Thanks for the input

The small bolts are an easy swap. Autozone & others sell replacement bolts in the battery section. You'll notice the new bolt has a washer looking area to it. Take a med-small screwdriver and pry the old bolt out of the battery cable from the hex side, it'll work it's way past the plastic/rubber holding it in. Then pop the new one in there, you're done.

the NAPA battery in my 95 lasted almost 4 years. Car was stored Oct-April no battery tender used. Just replaced the NAPA with an Autozone Gold

I have an OEM Delco which is now 7 years old and going strong. The key is you must have a battery tender which, if properly used on a regular basis, will extend the life of your battery for many years. You might try a tender on your current battery for a month or two before you throw in the towel and but a new one. Here is a pretty good one http://batterytender.com/product_info.php?products_id=2.

Yes, they are replaceable. No trick, just disconnect from battery and pop them out. I picked up a new set at Kragen. My old ones where almost rounded off.

ive had much sucess with optima-a little pricey, but after replacing the battery you'll not regret putting in a longer lasting battery
